Google rolled Gemini Spark into Google Photos. The agent sorts, edits and curates photo libraries with automated workflows: organizing collections, cleaning up duplicates and handling edits that previously required manual work.
Who gets it
The capability is available to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, keeping the agent features on the paid tiers of Google’s AI subscription stack.
Photos is one of the most personal datasets Google holds, and it is now one more surface where an autonomous agent, not a search box, is the default way in. Adoption among subscribers will show whether people want an agent rearranging their memories, or just faster search over them.

Gemini planned a Mount Shasta hike that ended in a rescue
Three novice hikers from Roseville used Google's Gemini to plan a Mount Shasta summit, including the packing list. The Siskiyou County sheriff's office says the AI suggested far less food and water than the climb required. The group summited around 7 pm, hours past the recommended turnaround time, descended in the dark into Mud Creek Canyon, and one hiker injured a knee. Rangers reached them the next morning. Google says it could not reproduce the answers described.
Google Pics brings Nano Banana image editing into Workspace

Chrome's Web Store removed uBlock Origin and every Manifest V2 extension
On August 31, 2026 Google permanently delisted all Manifest V2 extensions from the Chrome Web Store, the final step of its Manifest V3 migration. Installed copies keep running but get no updates, no bug fixes and no new filter lists, and cannot be reinstalled from Google. uBlock Origin never got a full Manifest V3 port; its successor is uBlock Origin Lite, with fewer features. Brave hosts four Manifest V2 extensions on its own infrastructure, uBlock Origin, AdGuard, NoScript and uMatrix, and says it will keep supporting them.
