ChipAgents raises $60M more to put AI agents inside semiconductor design
AI agents for chip design just raised another $60 million. On July 29, 2026, ChipAgents extended its Series A to $134 million in total, with the new $60M round led by B Capital and with Micron, MediaTek and Ericsson among its investors.
Silicon designing silicon
The startup builds AI agents that work inside the semiconductor design process, and adoption numbers suggest the pitch is landing. Its agents already run at more than 120 semiconductor companies, and annual recurring revenue grew 6x in the first half of 2026.
Alongside the round, ChipAgents expanded its partnership with Nvidia to develop a specialized AI model for chip design. That puts the company at an interesting intersection: the world’s dominant AI chipmaker is helping build the AI that designs chips.
Verification is the bottleneck
The biggest speedup ChipAgents delivers is in verification, the long, painful process of proving a chip will actually work before it is manufactured. Verification is notorious in the industry for consuming enormous engineering time, because a flaw that reaches manufacturing is catastrophically expensive to fix. Agents that compress that stage attack the costliest part of the pipeline.
A funding round against the market’s mood
The timing adds a layer of irony. Chip stocks are having their worst stretch in over a year, yet the tools that design chips are attracting nine-figure investor commitments and becoming AI agents themselves. Investors may be souring on chip equities in the short term, but they are still betting on the machinery that produces the next generation of silicon.
The strategic investor list tells its own story. Micron makes memory, MediaTek designs mobile chips, Ericsson builds telecom infrastructure. These are companies with their own design pipelines, buying a stake in the tools that could accelerate them.
Would you trust an AI agent to verify the chip in your next phone? More than 120 semiconductor companies are already answering that question with their workflows.
