Vibecoders built a virtual bar for waiting on Claude Code

AI coding created a new kind of downtime, and one developer built a bar for it.

What Rooftop.chat is

Rooftop.chat is a virtual rooftop lounge where people hang out while Claude Code runs their jobs. Visitors walk around as avatars, sit with strangers, talk over voice or text, play pool, then go back to the terminal when the run finishes.

The launch night

The creator posted the project on r/ClaudeAI expecting a few visitors. Instead the post blew up and the server buckled the same night. “I wasn’t expecting this many people. Server needs update,” the developer wrote.

What the demand says

The project is small and the sourcing is a single community thread, but the reaction points at something real. Agentic coding has turned programming into a job with built-in waiting, minutes at a time, many times a day, and that idle time now has enough shape that people want to spend it together. The waiting room is becoming a social space, which says as much about how much work the agents are now doing as any benchmark does.
