Tesla will launch the Cybercab on September 3 with no wheel or pedals
Tesla has set a date for the car it built without a steering wheel.
What happens on September 3
Invitations went out for an event in Austin promising exclusive access to the Cybercab. It is a two-seat vehicle, revealed at the We, Robot event in October 2024, and the first car Tesla has built with no steering wheel and no pedals.
Guests rode it on a closed circuit at that 2024 reveal, and employees got rides in July 2025. September 3 is the first public outing.
The regulatory side moved first. On August 20, 2026 the Nevada Transportation Authority approved permits allowing up to 5,000 Tesla robotaxis in Clark County over the next 12 months, alongside 1,000 each for Waymo and Uber.
Why removing the controls is the claim
A robotaxi built on a normal car with the controls left in is a retrofit, and a human can always take over. A car with no controls at all is a different statement: it says the software never needs one, and there is no fallback to sell to a regulator or an insurer.
That is why the date matters more than the design. Everything shown so far has been on closed circuits, at invitation-only events or with employees in the seat.
What is still missing
Tesla has no confirmed date for a paying passenger in a Cybercab. The Nevada permit sets a ceiling rather than a fleet, and Austin is a launch event rather than a service. The open question after September 3 is how quickly a car without controls moves from a demonstration route to ordinary streets with paying riders in it.

LinkedIn's AI slop button has been clicked more than a million times
LinkedIn added a "seems like AI slop" option to the report menu on any post on July 30, 2026. Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan says members have used it more than a million times since, and that the reports, combined with changes to LinkedIn's detection systems, have cut views of content the platform classifies as AI slop by 40 percent in recent weeks. LinkedIn has not said how its classifiers decide what counts as slop, or whether less AI-generated content is actually being published.
