Anthropic opened Claude Academy, a free training hub built from its internal onboarding

Anthropic put its internal AI training online and dropped the price to zero. Claude Academy went live on August 20 at academy.claude.com.

What is inside

The hub is built around AI fluency rather than product tours alone. It carries structured courses, short tutorials, real department use cases in areas including legal and healthcare, interactive exercises, and learning paths that run across Claude.ai, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Claude Tag and the Claude Platform.

Two courses anchor the catalogue. “AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations” runs 14 lessons and about four hours. “AI Capabilities and Limitations” runs 13 lessons. Learners can practice with Claude inside the lessons themselves, and the platform tracks completion and awards badges along the way.

The material is not written from scratch for the public. Anthropic says it is the same training the company uses to bring its own employees up to speed.

The teaching philosophy

The stated goal is durable mindsets rather than button sequences, on the reasoning that the tools change faster than any tutorial can track. One of the principles the company points to is to verify in proportion to the stakes, which is a habit rather than a feature of any particular interface.

Anthropic frames the wider aim as AI education that increases human agency instead of replacing it.

What it changes

Vendor training is normally a sales channel, priced and gated accordingly. Publishing the internal curriculum for free moves the cost of learning a frontier assistant properly to zero, for individuals and for teams rolling it out at scale.

The open question is whether fluency taught by the vendor stays general enough to transfer, or whether it quietly becomes product training with a broader name on the door.
