Unitree Robotics wins approval for a $619 million Shanghai IPO
A humanoid robot company just got the green light to go public, and it could change how the world invests in robots.
On July 3, 2026, China’s securities regulator, the CSRC, approved Unitree Robotics for a listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s STAR Market. The IPO is set to raise about $619 million (4.2 billion yuan), and trading could start as early as late July 2026.
Who is Unitree
Unitree, based in Hangzhou, is one of the world’s top-selling humanoid robot makers. It shipped roughly 5,500 humanoid robots in 2025, around a third of the global market, on top of the quadruped robot dogs that first made it famous.
The growth behind the listing is hard to ignore. Unitree’s 2025 revenue reached 1.71 billion yuan (about $250 million), and adjusted net profit jumped roughly 674% year over year. According to the company’s plans, the IPO proceeds will fund robot AI models, humanoid hardware R&D, new products, and a dedicated smart-robot factory.
Why this listing matters
This is one of the biggest public-market bets yet on humanoid robots and embodied AI. Unitree is not the first humanoid robot maker to list: UBTech went public in Hong Kong back in 2023. But Unitree’s raise is far larger, which makes this offering a genuine bellwether, both for China’s robotics sector and for physical AI going mainstream.
The framing matters here. Whether Unitree is the number one humanoid seller depends on whose ranking you read, which is why “one of the world’s top-selling humanoid robot makers” is the accurate way to put it. Either way, the company sits at or near the top of a market that barely existed a few years ago.
The bigger picture
For investors, the question the IPO poses is simple: is the humanoid robot business ready for public markets, or is the hype running ahead of reality? A company shipping thousands of humanoids a year with rapidly growing profit is a real business. A whole sector priced off that momentum is a bet.
Late July should give the first answer, when Unitree’s shares are expected to start trading on the STAR Market. Would you buy the humanoid robot IPO, or wait for the sector to prove itself first?
