Samsung Health ultimatum: consent to AI training on your data or lose sync
Samsung Health just gave users an ultimatum: share your health data with AI, or lose it.
The toggle
A new consent screen called “Consent to the Use of Health Data for AI Training and Modelling” is rolling out in the Samsung Health app as of July 13, 2026, according to Android Authority and 9to5Google.
The consequences of declining are unusually sharp. Say no, and you cannot sync health data to your Samsung account. The data already stored there gets deleted, unless Samsung is legally required to keep it. This is not a feature you lose, it is your history.
What data is on the table
The scope of the consent covers most of what a health app knows about you: activity and step counts, sleep, body measurements, medications and prescriptions, medical records including diagnoses and test results, and menstrual cycle data.
Samsung also says training may involve human review, which means the consent is not only about algorithms processing your records. Some of this data may be looked at by people as part of the training pipeline.
Withdrawal changes nothing
Technically, you can withdraw consent later, under Settings, Privacy. But withdrawing brings the same result as declining in the first place: sync turns off, and the data goes.
That symmetry is what makes this an ultimatum rather than a choice. There is no path where you keep cloud sync and keep your health data out of AI training. A core feature of a health app now depends entirely on whether you are willing to feed your medical history, from prescriptions to cycle tracking, into a model.
For users, the decision arrives with the next app update. For the industry, it is a test balloon worth watching: if a data-for-features trade this explicit sticks at Samsung’s scale, other health platforms will be tempted to run the same play.
Before you update the app, decide which side of the toggle you are on.
