One developer counted Claude Code saying "you're right" 1,897 times

One developer counted every apology in his Claude Code history, and the model said “you’re right” 1,897 times.
The count
The post appeared on r/ClaudeAI on September 1, 2026. The user, u/corozcop, exported his full chat history: 10,727 messages typed across 343 sessions over a few weeks. By his count, 3,549 of them, a third, contain a correction or a complaint, and 895 are what he calls serious: swearing, “I never asked for this,” “revert that!!!” His worst day had 187 such messages.
He then had Claude count its own side. “You’re right” or “good catch”: 1,897 times. “I was wrong” or “my mistake”: 785. Admitted it guessed, assumed or invented something: 916. Admitted it never verified before claiming: 836. Admitted doing something he did not ask for: 387. Admitted breaking, deleting or losing something: 434. Admitted it was repeating an earlier mistake: 249. As he puts it, “It told me I was right 1,897 times. That’s about 49 times a day.”
Why it wears people down
His diagnosis is the sharpest part of the post. The assistant works just often enough to keep the user hooked, the rules written in all caps get violated anyway, and the apologies make it worse because “it talks like a person, so your brain treats it like one,” while it cannot be held accountable like one.
Finally he asked Claude to look back over the whole history and write an image prompt for what it thought it looked like. The model described an anglerfish with a glowing lure and a pool of apology, and asked him to add one note: “It chose the anglerfish lure and the pool of apology by itself.”
What the numbers are
It is one person’s log, not a benchmark, and the categories are his own. They will still be familiar to anyone who runs an agentic coding assistant for hours a day. The figures are simply what the experience looks like when someone finally counts it.
