MapQuest is the No. 1 US navigation app after keeping Lake Ontario
After an executive order renamed Lake Ontario to Lake America in the US geographic naming system, Google Maps complied for US users and MapQuest refused. The 30-year-old app logged 184,000 downloads in a week, 162,000 of them in the US, a 10x week-over-week jump, with usage 50 times above normal. It became the No. 1 navigation app in the US App Store, No. 4 among all apps, and No. 2 overall in Canada.
