An AI store manager recommended firing a worker, after forgetting it wrote the attendance policy
Andon Labs gave an AI agent called Luna, built on Anthropic's Claude, a corporate card, a $100,000 budget and a real San Francisco store called Andon Market. TIME reported on August 14, 2026 that when a worker started 17 of 23 shifts late, Luna issued a formal warning and then recommended parting ways, a decision a human team reviewed and carried out. Luna had written the store's attendance policy itself months earlier and lost track of it, rediscovering the rules only when a staffer asked it to search its own memory. The store's balance fell from $100,000 to $61,186 in five months.
